For over 20 years, I’ve taught all types of classes and individuals. I’ve begun lessons with the desk on my head to get the attention of four-year-olds. I’ve worked with NGOs in India, consultancy firms in Paris and, in Rome, with the Libyan royal family and the Italian minister of Finance. I’ve been privileged to meet all kinds of people from all over the world, and to learn from them everything from the basics of general relativity to the ins and outs of Harry Potter!

As well as teaching languages, I love to study them. I speak French, Italian, Spanish, German, Hindi, Bengali, Portuguese and soon, I hope, Arabic. I think my experience learning languages is what enables me to teach effectively. It took me six years to become fluent in French and only three months for Italian. The reason: I learnt how to learn. And that, along with the grammar and the vocabulary, is what I pass on to my students.

In 2009, I married Khadija who's also a teacher and my partner in English Fix Online.

I'm afraid you'll have to speak to her to hear a story that's a lot more interesting than mine!

Paul:  My life changed when I was 18. I postponed my start at university, spent a year in France and discovered I loved two things I'd never thought about before: travelling and teaching.

My life, that I'd expected to be in business and finance, took me to some places I’d hoped to see and to others I’d never imagined. And what began as a convenient way to earn money abroad turned into a life-long profession.
